This week room 10 read the chapter “Three old ladies knit the socks of death” From Percy Jackson and The Lightning Theif. Percy Jackson is going home to see his mom for the summer holidays. But on his way there, the bus brakes down and everybody gets off the bus. Across the road is a fruit stand where there are three ancient looking ladies knitting a pair of gigantic socks. Grover starts saying “Percy let’s get on the bus”. Percy ignores him and watches as one of the old ladies picks up a pair of wicked looking scissors and cuts the thread. Percy wonders what’s going on and asks Grover. But Grover just looks mournful, like he’s wondering what kind of flowers he’d like on his grave. Percy thinks that he’ll die. Will he die? Keep reading!
